As fans of Emmerdale will know, we recently learned that ruthless business woman Megan Macey (Gaynor Faye) had a son when she was younger, but she gave him up for adoption.
However, her brother Declan Macey, took it upon himself to hunt down Megan’s son, and to do so, he hired a private detective, who, this week, will give Declan the news that he’s found the boy, who’s now of course a young man.
Declan is delighted to learn that his nephew, Robbie (Jamie Shelton) actually lives quite near by, and given that the couple who adopted him have passed away, Declan thinks the timing of the whole thing is ideal…
But according to Jason Merrells, who of course plays Declan, Megan’s not going to be pleased with her brother for interfering in her life.
Speaking to Soaplife, Jason said, “When Megan was clearly upset on Robbie’s birthday, Declan got it into his head he could solve everything by tracking Robbie down and pushing them together.
“He thinks he’s doing what Megan ultimately wants [and] discovers that Robbie’s living nearby.
“His adoptive family is no more – his adoptive dad never seems to have figured and his adoptive mum is dead.
“He thinks it’s perfect timing for Megan to step in.”
And of Megan’s reaction, Jason said, “She’s very angry although she’s a bit up and down with it. She doesn’t know how to approach it.
“She’s constructed her life as a child-free woman and suddenly it’s like Declan is forcing her into being a mother. She’s not comfortable with it.”
But, comfortable or not, Megan has no choice but to deal with Robbie when he turns up in the village!
Of that, Jason hinted that a fair few skeletons may be freed from their closet hiding space when Robbie’s arrival stirs up old issues.
He said, “I don’t know if it’s anything else to do with Robbie, but maybe there’s something about that time of her life that comes out.”
Don’t miss Emmerdale tonight, when Declan tells Megan he’s found her son!
